Hello there!
So my name is Sadie, and I am a bibliophile. First step is admitting it right?
Professionally speaking, I am a Children's Specialist, for a bookstore, meaning that I sell books to parents schools teachers and most importantly to the children themselves. What I do for this job is basically read everything and anything that enters my section in the store, review it and then sell it. Everyday I see people who have no idea about what to buy and what would be good for their children (or themselves), which is why I'm here, Amazon is great for reviews, but even better are the reviews from a person who has read as many children's books as she possibly can and specialises in Children's books. Some days this means that I sell to the children them selves so it is safe to say I know what kids want and I know what stories are appropriate for their age.
Often I have parents who come in with and tell me that their child either doesn't or can't read well, and this is the second half of my job, not only do I sell books but I am employed to help parents make the right decision's about what stories and books will helps those reluctant readers out there. I grew up in a household that reads every day, and my little brother who is an amazing reader has been known to finish full science fiction novels in just hours. I love reading and so does my whole family, but whats more important to me is that more children out in the world love it as well, because reading doesn't just help with escaping to another world with princesses and white knights. Unlike watching movies it helps children learn the essential skills for when they get into high school and higher education, to read fast and to be able to take in information at a glance. Also by reading they learn the skills and sentence structures needed to be creative and write stories of their own, something which I fully encourage.
So my agenda here, is to give all those other bibliophiles out there information about new and upcoming books. To give parents an idea about what is out on the market to get their children reading. Most importantly to have fun, and hear all of your opinions, your stories and all about your love of books.
